Tour description
We start by a transfer to the South to reach Cesky Krumlov, no doubt the real fairytale town! After exploring this renesaince and medieval gem we bike east through the Trebon pond area where we can tastre the best carp! Further on it takes us to an are called for its relative remotness Czech Canada. Here we turn to explore the UNESCO famed town of Telc and Slavonice. Further east we hit the Moravia with its wines and leisure approach. We will admire the old towns of Znojmo or Mikulov. Finally we cross the border to Austria to head gently towards Vienna. The program of the tour consists of a ride from Prague to Vienna, but does not include accommodation in Prague nor in Vienna prior and after the tour. We recommend purchasing two or three extra nights in both cities to fully enjoy the beauty there.
Nice connection of the two metropolis. Starting by transfer to Cesky Krumlov, then along the Austrian border to the East. Cowering the stunning UNESCO places such as Cesky Krumlov, Telc or Lednice-Valtice area.

The tour is guided by Prague natives - who truly love the city and can reveal much more than any travel book – all safely by bike and finished by a mug of good beer in an carefully chosen place. Do not hesitate to ask us for this extra tour – it is our clients favorite! If time is not your worst enemy, we do propose you stay in Prague more days to fully explore its beauty and hidden corners. Feel free to ask us about more nights or other attractions!
Hotels: Night in Prague is not included as most of our guests prefer to stay more nights. Therefore we offer large variety of hotels which we are happy to recomend ( ** / *****).
Prague - Cesky Krumlov
Show dayToday is merely a free day. In the morning we transfer from your Prague hotel to Cesky Krumlov (cca 2-2,5 hours) by a van. Here you get the welcome briefing. The rest of the day is reserved for your individual exploration of this fabulous town. We conclude the day by a first dinner together.
Today starts hard as we have to climb out of the Moldau valley. It will také us once more as we visit the lovely Zlatá koruna monastery. After the inevitable climb we get to an easier area winding through tiny villages and picturesque landscape. Finally we get to the Trebon pond area. This originally swampy area was turned into a kingdom of ponds with thousands of little ones and crowned by the mighty giants like Svet (world) or Rozmberk (Rosenberg). In the end we get to Trebon, once a cozy residence of the mighty Rosenbergs, today a lovely spa town amidst the ponds. Do try a carp here as where else, when not here?!
Another rather long day offers a lot of the border area. Not so much climbing as the day before, today we mostly bike betwwen the many ponds bulit here through the reign of the Rosenbergs. Touching Austria for a bit we never leave the border for long and enjoy the border NP nicknamed Czech Canada. Finally we turn north to reach the highland pearl of Telc. This UNESCO protected town offers some of the best renesaince pics ever.
Today we start south again enjoing the ups and downs of the highlands. Pasing the town of Dacice you can visit the place where the first sugar cube ever was produced. Later on we bike along the Austrian border admiring the landscape and the pre WW II bunkers which were supposed to stop the german invasion. Finally we descend into the deep canyon of Dyje river to admire two mighty castles – Cornstejn and Bitov.
Not too long yet very picturesque day. It winds through the Podyji NP recognized as one of the most preserved nature bits in the country. You can admire the Dyje valley, numerous views crowned by the one of austrian town of Hardegg. Around the corner we cycle by the remains of Iron curtain to get the chilly feelings of life behind it. To cheer up one can descend all the way down to the river to sip wine from one of the most fascinating vineyards – Sobes. Finally we hit the royal town of Znojmo with its many beauties to discover.
Today we again follow the czech-austrian border east. Leaving Znojmo we get to farmland crowned by vineyards and towns like Jaroslavice. As today really stays flat one can try wine to get in the local spirit before we hit the so called bikers highway to get us right to Mikulov. This fantastic gem on the border shows rich history and today again moves in the centre of attention as both Vienna and Brno are just around the corner from here.
On the last biking day we soon cross the border to Austria and continue along the local vineayrds and towns like Poysdorf with an extensive wine market. Soon we hit the Zaya creek and through the ex-Lichtenstein seat in Wilfersdorf get to Mistelbach where our journey comes to an end. The transfer will bring you to Vienna. Should you prefer, you can prolong biking by finishing the route to Vienna by bike (96 km total distance).
For guided group tours the support vehicle with bikes and the tour leader leave Vienna on Day 7 in the early afternoon. All participants with flight tickets from Prague can travel by supporting vehicle to Prague for free. These bikers spend their last night in Prague. They may also decide for a self guided trip in Moravia instead of going to Vienna and back to Moravia. These participants can either take their flight home from Prague or we will happily offer them other additional services in Prague, such as additional accommodation, a guided tour of Prague and other services. However, these are not included in the price of the cycling tour.

Our self-guided tours
Accommodation is one of the most important parts of each trip that strongly influences the final look of it. We make our best to offer you the best possible accommodation in the prefered category. The hotels we offer are either comfortable small hotels or quite guesthouses both in 3* quality, all of it rather small and with personality than big chain. All the tours have accommodation in or near the town/village centres so you can spend the afternoon and evening after biking exploring the town itself or simply enjoy the peace of the place.
