Tour description

Let yourself be enchanted by the fairytale land of the Elbe Sandstone Mountains. With more than 700 square kilometers of space, it is one of Europe’s last large wildernesses. The most beautiful parts of this region, with its valuable flora and fauna, are protected as a cross-border national park. Step into a world free of noise and everyday routine.

As a small spoiler to the tour -  the jewel of Bohemian Switzerland and a serious candidate for the list of the wonders of the world, Pravčická Gate awaits your visit.

Our trips to the rock towns and deep forests let us realize that we are witnesses of the Mesozoic era.

The table hills, pinnacles and gorges of Saxon-Bohemian Switzerland offer impressive images for your photos. Some species flourish here that have long disappeared from other regions. Keep an eye out for salmon, otters, lynxes, peregrine falcons or kingfishers – and plenty of others…

We promise you so many adrenaline activities and positive impressions, you will not want to turn back home.

Itinerary

Individual arrival to Děčín

Show day
1 Day

We have carefully chosen the accommodation in a family-run hotel with a lovely child playground. There is a welcome meeting with the local guide in the evening. You have got a chance to learn about the itinerary and all the adventures awaiting you.

While in Decin, make sure you climb some of the city peaks. For example, the  Decinsky Sneznik located East of Decin, is a mountain top with a view tower, from where you can get a magnificent view of the city and the surrounding landscapes all around.

Discover the history of Decin by visiting its 18th-century castle, and viewing the town from one of its hill-tops. Most importantly, don't forget to get a good glimpse of the Shepherd’s Wall from the riverboat on the Elbe River.

Rafting and cycling tour with a picknick

Distance 15 KmShow day
2 Day

The deepest sandstone canyon in Europe is a great place for an easy white-water rafting trip. Even small children can join; the water is calm, so the whole family can enjoy a relaxed paddle down the river. Along the Elbe you pass unusual rock formations, climbing walls and forests. The ride ends in the spa town of Bad Schandau on the German side of the border, which is a pleasant place for a short break or a coffee on the quay.

We will bring bicycles and a picnic basket with local food, so you can have lunch on the riverbank. Afterwards you cycle back along the Elbe cycling trail.

Moutain bike tour

Distance 22 KmShow day
3 Day

Today you will try mountain biking in the area of Děčínský Sněžník, the highest tabletop mountain in the Czech Republic. First you visit the rock formations near the village of Tisá. Then a 22 km bike route follows: partly flat, partly downhill along a forest cycle trail, bringing you back to Děčín. The route combines forest paths and asphalt roads with little traffic and is overall easy.

Via Ferrata

Show day
4 Day

This day offers a via ferrata experience right in the center of Děčín, the main outdoor-activity area of Bohemian Switzerland. A large via ferrata complex has routes suitable for beginners as well as more experienced climbers. Our guide will explain the equipment, show you the basics and lead you safely along the wall.

Families with children up to 40 kg can spend the day at the thermal water park, which has outdoor pools, water slides and other water attractions

Dolský mlýn and castle ruin Šaunštejn

Distance 13 KmShow day
5 Day

Distance: 8-13 km.

This hike starts in Jetřichovice, a village typical for its local folk architecture, and continues through a quiet river valley to the ruins of the historic water mill Dolský mlýn. Afterwards you climb to the ruins of Šaunštejn Castle, which once guarded an old merchant route. More active hikers can continue to the ruins of Falkenštejn and to the sandstone formation Malá Pravčická brána (Little Pravčice Gate).

Walking to the Jetřichovice lookouts

Distance 15 KmShow day
6 Day

Distance: 7 / 15 km

Today you will visit the Jetřichovice lookouts. You start with a climb to Maria’s Rock, which has a wooden gazebo on top and offers wide views of Bohemian Switzerland. From there you follow a ridge trail with several other viewpoints. More active walkers can also descend into the Pavlino údolí valley.

Pravčická gate and dinghy boat trip in gorges

Distance 13 KmShow day
7 Day

Distance: 13 km

You will explore the area of sandstone towers and reach Pravčická brána, where Hans Christian Andersen stayed and where parts of The Chronicles of Narnia were filmed. The trail leads over hills and provides wide views of the landscape. Together with a short boat trip in the narrow Wild Gorge, this day often becomes the highlight of the tour.

Our self-guided tours

Accommodation is one of the most important parts of each trip that strongly influences the final look of it. We make our best to offer you the best possible accommodation in the prefered category. The hotels we offer are either comfortable small hotels or quite guesthouses both in 3* quality, all of it rather small and with personality than big chain. All the tours have accommodation in or near the town/village centres so you can spend the afternoon and evening after biking exploring the town itself or simply enjoy the peace of the place.

Their confidence in and loyalty to Europe Bike Tours is not misplaced.Guiding a tour group ov...
